The New Sonoran Republic was a nation proposed by members of the New California Republic government and their corporate backers.

Background[]

Viewing their future control of both Hoover Dam and Arizona as inevitable, members of the New California Republic Congress and Senate began to enter consultation on what action to take with the territory currently controlled by Caesar's Legion. One proposed plan of action was to establish a de jure independent nation that was, in fact, an extension of the New California Republic controlled and monitored by various members of the private sector.

This plan was primarily backed by the brahmin baron Micheal Jamison, who saw this soon-to-be lawless land as an opportunity to expand his reach. Jamison used his connections in the Crimson Caravan trading company to establish many backdoor dealings with mid-ranking members of Caesar's Legion, promising them positions in the upcoming government in exchange for their cooperation and tactical information on the Legion.

Proposed Implimentation[]

Once enough territory had been liberated from the Legion, the NCR would form an interim government which would slowly transition power to a civilian government. This civilian government would include many of Jamieson's contacts, under new identities, who would begin to sign government contracts with Jamieson and his business associates and sign many bills into law that would allow them to operate with fewer restrictions than the NCR. These outside businesses would operate within the NSR as government contractors, using cheap local labor managed by New California natives to operate mining companies (via Morningstar Mining Company), brahmin, and bighorn ranches (operated by Stockman Association), and large sharecrops (through Agri-Grow Services). Many construction companies would also be contracted to rebuild infrastructure to allow the importation of NCR goods and water into the area, primarily through Crimson Caravan. The NSR would provide training for said jobs as part of a program to remove Legion programming from the citizenry, former soldiers being retrained and given new jobs.

These deprogramming efforts would also extend to educating the youth with an anti-Legion, pro-NCR curriculum with Latin being forbidden and children being given more anglicized names. Use of Latin or other actions considered Pro-Legion being punished by law enforcement, up to and including prison time, ran by California Corrections Solutions, utilizing labor as a corrective technique. In further attempts to quash possible Legion coups, the NSR would abolish their army, instead of contracting private security firms, primarily staffed by veterans of the NCR Armed Forces, and disallowing the possession of weaponry by NSL citizens for non-occupational use.

Possible Benefits[]

Using his vast wealth, Jamison made many governments more amicable to this plan, including Senators Morales and Carlson, with word of this plan reportedly reaching as far as President Kimball. This proposal would not only increase the funding to backers of this plan but also allow the NCR to maintain economic control of the region all while claiming non-involvement to those decrying the Kimball administration's rapid expansionism.
