Montana was a state of the United States of America and was part of the Northern Commonwealth.
Background[]
Montana was a state in the Mountain West division of the Western United States. It was bordered by Idaho to the west, North Dakota and South Dakota to the east, Wyoming to the south, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan to the north. It attained statehood on November 8, 1889, becoming the 41st state to join the union.
