About[]
The Memory Den Discord is the official Discord server of the Fallout Fanfiction and Roleplaying Wiki and its community. Users can contact the server's moderation team via direct message to any member of the moderation team.
Roles[]
The following outlines the Memory Den's roles and associated permissions.
Verification[]
There are two levels of verification with Fanon Dwellers and Fanon Editors, the latter being optional. Channel access is dependent on the first verification, and can be completed in the #vault-orientation channel, with instructions on how to verify in it. The verification for becoming a Fanon Editor can also be done in #vault-orientation.
Bots[]
Bots are automated or semi-automated processes managed by administrators for various purposes. Bots are given the "synth" vanity role to assist in identification.

User Conduct[]
The conduct rules below detail expectations for all user and interactions, are not exhaustive and are in addition to both the Discord Guidelines and Terms of Service. Moderation of the server is the responsibility of active staff members. All moderative actions and their duration are subject to administrator discretion.
Rules and Guidelines[]
Users who are disruptive to the chat or who fail to behave appropriately towards other users may have appropriate action taken. The possible reasons for said actions include (but are not limited to):
Keep discussions within their proper, designated channels, and if possible, keep the channels on-topic. | |
If possible, don't derail or disrupt a current conversation on-going within a channel. | |
While deleting and editing messages is allowed, only do this if it is necessary, as it floods moderation logs. Disruptive or misrepresentative alteration or removal of information is strictly prohibited. | |
At all times, be civil, courteous, and follow proper etiquette. Do not engage in personal attacks, hate speech, harassment, threats, or sexually suggestive or degrading language. Use common sense and when in an argument agree to disagree. | |
In addition to 2.1, usage of any manner of slurs, racial bigotry, or sexually degrading language are very much extremely prohibited. This will result in an immediate ban. | |
Don't spam the chat or speak in all capital letters, send advertisements and malicious links within the server's channels, or ping other users repetitively. Don't spam the same messages 6 times because no one is responding to you. That may be because you are in the wrong channel or asking in a channel with an active conversation, so try to move to other channels when that happens. | |
Alt accounts are not allowed in under any circumstances unless exclusively used by moderators only for testing purposes. | |
Do not violate other users' personal privacy. Do not reveal or publish personally identifiable information about users (real name, location, age, personal photos, IPs, etc), link to other users' personal social media accounts, or violate requests for confidentiality. Blackmailing, doxxing, personal attacks at other users both in the server and in direct messages (with proper concrete evidence) is not tolerated and will result in an immediate ban pending moderator review and approval. | |
Utilise the server user profile feature properly. Avoid having long or inappropriate usernames or server profile pictures. | |
Do not attempt to bypass any of the rules or create loopholes. | |
People without a wiki account are welcome to share some of our social spaces, but full access is limited to those with verified accounts. Non disclosure of a wiki account is grounds for removal from discord. | |
Usernames should match wiki name. As part of this you will be asked to make an edit, of a moderators discretion to your user page. Discussions posts/Bio additions will not counted as verification. | |
The same rules generally apply to voice chat. Take turns while speaking to avoid talking over others. | |
Most of the bots on the server are mostly used for moderation purposes. Bot commands should only be used sparingly outside #vault-robotics-center and music bot commands only used in new-world-bops. | |
Wiki blocks mirror Discord bans while Discord bans do not mirror wiki blocks as server guidelines do not fall under listed services of Fandom TOS. As a result, you are able to continue participating in the wiki while banned on the Discord, but not vice versa. |
Moderation[]
Moderators have a wide discretion relating to the issuing of warnings, kicks and bans which infringe on these rules. The content of messages will greatly impact on the severity of the punishment. In certain particular cases, exceptions may be permitted under administrator review and approval.
All moderative actions should be communicated to users via talk page, outlining both justification and duration. Usually, the following hierarchy will apply to infringements on the above regulations, with some exceptions.
Offense # | Suggested action |
---|---|
First | Verbal warning |
Second | Warning/Kick |
Third | Kick/Three day ban |
Fourth | One week ban |
Fifth | One month ban |
Subsequent | Permanent ban |
These are guidelines for standard cases. Blocks and their duration are generally up to the discretion of the adminstrators as well as/or moderators administering the action. Further offenses will result in an extended ban.
Administrators and chat moderators use their discretion when applying these rules, and understanding of the rules depends on their perception of the rules. Particular exceptions may be granted by a specific administrator or chat moderator's approval. Nonetheless, these rules and guidelines should always be followed.
Moderators are reminded that they have the freedom to deal with situations with a less firm hand if required. If someone intends a bit of good humor, realizes their mistake, and apologizes, there may be no need for a kick or ban if the moderator feels the apology is genuine and the lesson has been learned.
